And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:18-20
What is Baptism?
We believe Baptism by water as a “an outward, visible sign of an inward, spiritual grace”. A Baptism is an exciting event in our church family. We believe that Jesus has commanded us to baptise people in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In Baptising with water, we experience what Christ experienced in His Baptism by John the Baptist in the river Jordan.
Who can be Baptised?
In Baptism we welcome those of all ages to make their commitment to God. When a child is baptised, Christian parents (and Godparents) make a promise to live their own lives as an example of discipleship and a commitment and a commitment to bring their child up in the faith. We all, as the family of Magheralin Parish, promise to encourage the growth and wellbeing of this little one as they grow in Spiritual maturity.
We also welcome young people and adults to Baptism. You might be a young person or an adult who hasn’t been baptised and you might be thinking about baptism. If this is so, we would love to make an opportunity for this to happen.
If you are interested in finding out about having your child baptised or being baptised yourself, contact us, or speak to a member of the clergy. We would love to talk to you about it!
