St Saviours Renewal

Plan and Rejoice

It's been 18 years since the opening of the current St Saviours building in Dollingstown. With this project we are renewing our building that supports our service to God.

a space to worship

a faithful god

a focal point of Worship

The chancel will be updated with a modern cross at it's centre with deep and wide reaching pearlescent tiling

New Screens

We're also upgrading the old projectors to large, easily visible displays to bring lyrics and visuals in their true brightness

Enhanced lighting

New lighting will be fitting in a re-plastered acoustic ceiling, reducing glare and creating opportunities for a unique worship environment

new routes

A set of double doors will be added to bridge the main church and the lounge, allowing for a more natural flow after services

tea and coffee bar

A dedicated area for tea and coffee will be established at the rear of the church

safety improvements

Safety handrails and a new glass barrier will be added in the balcony areas

A word from Rev simon
Magheralin Parish is a community of believers who aim to be both deep and wide in experiencing and sharing the love of Jesus. We have seen Jesus do amazing things in our community and in 2023 our desire is to praise God and celebrate 18 years of service in St Saviours worship centre in Dollingstown. We pause to reflect, to celebrate, to thank God for His provision and to renew our commitment to a faithful God and to the building that supports our service to Him. At the opening of St Saviours in 2005 we were all called to be living stones for Christ (1 Peter 2 v 5). How have we lived this out in the 18 years?

We are excited about what God has yet to do. Please do join with us as we rejoice in the past and plan for the future in renewing our commitment firstly to Christ and then to both our buildings and the local community.

Basil asked me back in 1998/99 to help coordinate the Dollingstown build program. I felt very uncomfortable as a non- Christian especially when people started to pray but thankfully the Lord didn’t give up on me! On Palm Sunday in the old church Rev Chris Easton led me to faith from Rev 3 v 20. On the following Easter Sunday I was pleased when the late Jamsie McKinley sat beside me. Wonderful memories indeed.

As our two children have recently married and moved away, we reflect on how blessed we as a family have been through the ministry and fellowship in Dollingstown. We are so thankful that both Hannah and Tom developed their faith through Kidschurch and various Youth activities. They are now both worshipping and serving in other churches using the gifts that they had the opportunity to grow and develop in St Saviours. We thank our faithful God for blessing our family.

how can I help?

Just as we did 18 years ago when we raised the funds to build Dollingstown Church, we are asking once again for prayer and, if you are able, that you commit to making monthly payments to the special building fund.

To raise the required funding of £150,000 we plan to spread this over four years and we need people (our ‘living stones’) to make additional monthly payments that will in total be around £3200. We are very aware of the rising costs of living and realise that some people are already finding it difficult to make ends meet
so we are only appealing to you if you are able to help. If one in three of the families who presently donate to our Parish each year commit to a new additional monthly payment of £21 a month (less than £1 a day) we will exceed our target of raising £150,000 to fund this essential work in our two churches over the next four years.

To help our finance team gain an understanding of the amounts of additional pledges please complete a pledge card. We plan to hold a special Pledge Sunday at the morning services on Sunday 23 April 2023 when completed pledge cards can be returned. Alternatively, the completed cards can be confidentiallyreturned to the Honorary Treasurer via Churchwardens, the offering plate or the Parish Office. Thank you.

An extract from the Methodist Covenant Service

Eternal God, in your faithful and enduring love you call us to share in your gracious covenant in Jesus Christ. I am no longer my own but yours. Your will, not mine, be done in all things. I willingly offer all I am and have to serve you, as and where you choose. Glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are mine and I am yours. May it be so for ever. Let this covenant now made on earth be fulfilled in heaven. Amen.
