In February each year under the constitution of the Church of Ireland a revision of the Register of Vestry Members is carried out. The review meeting this year will be held on Tuesday 13th February 2024.
The review of the register is open from 13th January and will remain open until 13th February 2024. It is not necessary to register every year. To check whether your name is already on the register, please email magheralincoi@gmail.com or call the parish office on 02892619569 or speak to a churchwarden.
Being on the Register of Vestry Members, enables parishioners to vote in parish elections, at the annual Easter General Vestry. Registered members of the parish along with officiating members of the clergy constitute what is known as the general vestry.
If you are not already on the register and:
- are a member of the Church of Ireland who is at least 18 years old,
- attend one of the churches in our parish, i.e. Magheralin or Dollingstown and
- contribute to parish funds in a way which is receiptable, (e.g. by standing order or by using freewill offering envelopes) then you are eligible to be registered.
To remain on the register, it is important that you continue to meet all of the criteria noted above.
You can register by completing one of the forms attached1 or by getting a form from the Rector, a churchwarden or by requesting a form to be posted to your home address from the parish office. Completed forms must be signed and returned to the parish office, 3 Newforge Road, Magheralin. BT67 0QJ or by email to magheralincoi@gmail.com, at the latest by 7pm on 13th February but preferably by 12 noon on that day.
Download the registration form for those resident in the parish here.
- If you live within the parish boundary please complete the form for residents. If you live outside the parish boundary please complete the form for accustomed members. If you are unsure which to complete you can check with the rector or churchwardens or by contacting the parish office. ↩︎
