A Very Important Week in our Diocese

Folks, I want to ask you to really prioritise a special week of worship, teaching and inspiration in our parish and in our diocese from the 27th-30th of August.

On Tuesday the 27th August from 7.30pm in St.Saviour’s Dollingstown, we are having a special night entitled “Go into ALL the world”.  We will hear about ‘home mission’ from evangelist George Newell who trains other evangelists for our diocese and works for New Wine Ireland, and we will be hearing about ‘mission abroad’ from an American missionary called Eric Foley who is based in South Korea, and can speak with authority about the situation in North Korea. Eric works with Release International/Voice of the Martyrs and it is so exciting to have him coming to our parish.

As well as this, you will know that our Bishop, Harold announced his upcoming retirement a few weeks ago and so his Bible Week takes on even more significance than normal. From Tuesday 27–Friday 30 August at 7.45 pm in Shankill Parish Church, Lurgan, Bishop Harold will say ‘Farewell’ to the diocese with four encouragements from scripture.  In his own words:

I’ve had the privilege of serving as Bishop in the Diocese of Down and Dromore for over 22 years and I very much look forward to this opportunity to share words of encouragement from four farewell passages in the scriptures.

I would be delighted if all ages would seize this opportunity to be encouraged, challenged and inspired by going to as many of these special nights as possible.
Please make this a concrete commitment in your diaries!
Simon
