Girls Friendly Society News

November, as always, has been a busy month for G.F.S. On Sunday 11th Nov we attended the Remembrance Sunday Service at the War Memorial and then afterwards in church. The following week on Sunday 18th Nov we again attended church with the Boys Brigade for our annual enrolment service. The girls sang two pieces during the service and the leaders joined with the B.B. officers to sing ‘Oh Jesus I Have Promised’’. We had an excellent turn-out at both these services and our thanks go to all the girls who attended on both Sundays and to those who took part in the enrolment service.

On Saturday 17th Nov the diocesan singing and verse speaking competitions were held in Maralin Village Primary School this year due to the hall refurbishments. We won two singing cups and gained many places in the choir and choral speaking competitions. The cookery and floral art competitions were also held on that morning and the girls did extremely well in these competitions too. Our thanks go again to the girls for turning out for the competitions and for all their hard work and excellent results! Thanks also to the principal and staff for the use of the primary school for the competitions.

During November the girls have been extremely busy making their angels for our Gabriel tree for the Christmas Tree Festival in church. There are angels of all shapes and sizes and lots of glue and glitter have been used in the process.

Tuesday 4th December will be our final evening of the year and will also be our Christmas party and hopefully we will be fortunate enough to have a visit from Santa.

There will be no G.F.S on Tuesdays 11th, 18th & 25th December and Tuesday 1st January.

We will meet again in the New Year on Tuesday 8th January.

The G.F.S. would like to wish all our members and their families a very Happy Christmas and a   Healthy and Peaceful New Year and to thank you for all the support you have given us throughout 2012!
